Fashion, Trends, Diets..

Last night I was tuned into a movie and something pretty disturbing made me laugh. The editor of a popular magazine was drilling into her employees heads what the magazine writes about.. Not factual investigative stories, but fashions, trends, diets, etc.. Wait a minute.. Which one of those DON'T belong.. A diet is not a fashion. It's not a trend. Trends are cyclical and fashions are forever changing. But DIET on the other hand should be a constant pattern of eating, staying the same month after month. I don't even like the word diet. Look at the first 3 letters, DIE. Yeah thats what you want to do when your on a diet. Kill yourself in the first week from hunger, which is why you can never stick to it. Your eating patterns and habits need to be looked at as the way you nourish your body. It should be a lifestyle of healthy eating.

The only thing you need to know about "diet" and if you are trying to lose weight is that you need to burn more calories than you consume. The equation is the same month after month year after year. There is no magic pill or color food you must eat to lose weight or hold your current wait. Your body is not going to change how it functions every month. It does not have an evil gnome picking out of a hat on how it will or will not lose weight that month. It's science and science is proven. Your body is very simple and makes it easy on you. Calories burned > calries consumed = weight loss. That's it. No need to read up on the latest diet trend cuz it's not going to help you. That simple equation is all you need to remember. Heck you could eat cake and lose weight. Granted your daily caloric quota might be filled by eating only 2 peices of cake but as long as that's all you eat then yeah, it's completely possible to lose weight with cake. Now of course if u tried that you'd probably be misserable and starving, grumpy at least.

Which brings me to the next part. What are u putting in your body? If you now know the equation to losing weight how can we make it easier to plug the numbers to make that equation hold true. You must choose nutritionaly dense foods. I'm not saying dont touch a cookie or peice of cake ever again, I'm saying you must balance those treats with foods that will fill you up on fewer calories. Your body is a machine. If u give it the top grade gas it's going to run at its highest ability. If you randomely throw in used oil guarunteed your gonna break down. Foods at their most basic form are the most nutritionally dense and enable your body to get the most nutrients it needs. I'm talking about vegetables, fruits, lean cuts of meat, heck steak is in there too just don't gorge on a huge slab every night cuz once again back to the equation, your caloric intake must be less than you burn in order to lose weight. Steak is higher than leaner choices of meat in calories, but even steak has a place in a healthy diet. When we take in foods at their most basic form it allows our bodies to run more efficiently. It's not trying to sort out the saturated fats and high fructose corn syrup in order to get to the core nutrients hidden in the food. In basic foods, nutrients are right there on top just waiting to be absorbed and used by your body. You will notice with eating less processed foods you wil have more energy, better looking skin, you will sleep better, and your mood will be enhanced. Your body will be so much happier receiving oatmeal in the morning instead of that sugary poptart. Not to mention you will feel fuller longer on the oatmeal, which will reduce food cravings later on. Heck, with the poptart those things don't even dent hunger pangs.

It's all about choosing foods wisely, eating fresh ingredient, home-cooked meals. When you learn to do that, the rest is simple. Throw out that processed food. You won't feel satisfied or full after eating it. Your body is NOT going to thank you, heck its gonna punish you cuz its pissed off at the crap your putting in it! Stop wasting your time buying into trendy diets, their not going to work. Remember our one equation, that's it. I promise, your will feel the difference.
